Conscious sedation in non comatose patients submitted to intra - arterial thrombolysis: our experience.

چکیده
Introduction Recent studies have demonstrated that general anesthesia worsen outcome of patients affected by acute ischemic stroke (AIS) who underwent intra arterial thrombolysis [1]. General anesthesia (GA) guarantees adequate oxygenation and prevents pneumonia aspiration. On the other hand general anesthesia induces hypotension worsening brain injury. Futhermore it does not allow to verify early recovery of neurological deficits during the procedure. Conscious sedation (CS) can represent a valid and reliable option in non comatose patients suffering from AIS and candidated to endovascular reperfusion procedure [2].

Conscious sedation for upper digestive endoscopy performed by endoscopists.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Conscious sedation in the ambulatory setting albeit common is not risk-free. The present study aimed at evaluating the blood pressure, heart rate and peripheral oxygen saturation in patients submitted to conscious sedation for upper digestive endoscopy performed by endoscopists. METHODS A total of 105 patients of both sexes were selected, aged 18 and older, physical ...
متن کاملSedation with etomidate-fentanyl versus propofol-fentanyl in colonoscopies: A prospective randomized study
Abstract Background: The combination of propofol-fentanyl for sedation during colonoscopy is characterized by the frequent incidence of side effects. Etomidate-fentanyl provides fewer hemodynamic and respiratory complications. The aim of our study was to compare the safety and efficacy of propofol-fentanyl and etomidate-fentanyl for conscious sedation in elective colonoscopy. Methods: This do...
متن کاملIntra-arterial thrombolysis in acute ischemic stroke: a single center experience.
Intra-arterial thrombolysis (IAT) is a treatment modality in patients with acute large vessel occlusive ischemic stroke. To our knowledge, this is probably the first reported study of intra-arterial thrombolysis in acute ischemic stroke from India. Of the 17 patients treated who recieved IAT, successful recanalization was achieved in nine patients, Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) s...
متن کاملPre- and in-hospital delays from stroke onset to intra-arterial thrombolysis.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Thrombolysis for treatment of acute ischemic stroke should be administered as fast as possible after symptom onset. The aim of this study was to examine, in our tertiary care center, the time intervals preceding intra-arterial thrombolysis in order to accelerate and optimize the management of acute strokes. METHODS Between January 1, 2000, and April 30, 2002, 597 patien...

Background & Aim: High frequency of traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries in one hand and improvement of the health care condition to restore patient;aposs life in the other hand has increased the frequency of comatose patients in ICU. These patients often experience physical, cognitive, behavior or sensory defects, and the sensory input reduction in intensive care units expose them to cog...
